The total <br />natural gas resources of the San Juan River Basin has been estimated <br />at about 12 trillion cubic feet. There also are a few small fields in <br />Montezuma, Archuleta and La Plata counties in Colorado. The total <br />crude oil resource in the San Juan River Basin has been estimated <br />at about 1 billion barrels. <br /> <br />Most of the production of uranium and associated vanadium ores has <br />been from the Monticello district in eastern San Juan County, Utah, <br />the Monument district in Arizona and Utah, and the Shiprock and <br />Chuska districts at the western edge of San Juan County, New Mexico. <br />The deposits occur mainly in the Morrison and Chinle formations. <br /> <br />III-9 <br /> <br />
