No. LA-3 mine discharge
LA-8 sewage treatment
plant discharge

.

The CF&I - Allen Mine is located approximately 6.5 miles west
of Weston. There are two discharges from this mining operation:
(1) the sewage treatment plant and (2) the mine drainage. Both
discharges flow directly to the Purgatoire River. The superin-
tendent is A. E. Pagnotta and the chief engineer is Jack Snow.

.

The sewage wastes are treated by a extended aeration package plant
with a design capacity of 60,000 gpd. This plant serves approxi-
mately 500 men on a 3 shift basis. The major portion of sewage
is shower water. The plant will eventually have some sort of
flow recorder, but no flow measuring device was available at the
time of the visit.

.

The mine discharge does not receive any treatment and the flow
is estimated at 10,000 gpd.

.

INFLUENT

CLARIFIER

-------,

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
_____J

.

,----

I
I
I
I
I
I
I

COMMINUTOR

.

AERATION TANK

BLOWERS

SLUDGE &
SCUM RETURN
LINes

.

.

OUTLET TO
PURGATOIRE AIVEA

.

C.F.&I.
