<br />FORE\IORD <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />The analysis of climatologlcal data described in this report <br />was made for the period March 1, 1951 to June 1, 1951, durlng the <br />cloud-seeding operations by the Water Resources Development <br />Corporatlon of Denver, Colorado, oovering a target area roughly <br />deflned as the valleys of the Cache 1a Poudre, Big Thompson, and <br />St. Vraln Rivers eaet of the Continental Dlvlde. The study wae <br />authorited by a contract between the Colorado A~ricultural Re- <br />search FoundatIon of Colorado A & M College, through the Civil <br />En~ineerIng Section of the Experlment Station, and the Northern <br />Colorado Natural Resources AssociatIon. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mr. Willlam D. Farr, President, NCNRA, and Mr. Donald W. <br />Farnham, Acting Secretary, NCNRA, .were In consultation w1 th Colo- <br />rado A & M College staff members and made valuable suggestions <br />durIng the course of the study. <br /> <br />The Seotion Chlefs of the U. S. Weather Bureau and Mr. Homer <br />J. Stockwell, Irrigatlon EngIneer, SolI ConservatIon ServIce, <br />USDA, were very cooperattve In makIng available climatological <br />data. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Prof. Andrew G. Clark, Head, MathematIos Department, Colorado <br />A & MCollege, advised on the statistical analysls of the olima- <br />tologlcal data. <br /> <br />Oollege staff engineers who contributed to the studies were <br />Prof. }!axwel:L Parshall, Nho assisted in the assembly and analysIs <br />of the climatologIcal data; Mr. IrvIng S. Dunn, who advised on the <br />meteorological aspects of the analysIs and revIewed the report; . <br />Mr. James R. Barton, who assIsted in the analysis of the snowfall <br />datu; Mr. ChOng-Hung Zee, who assisted In the analysIs of the <br />precipItatIon data: and Mr. Victor GrImm, who assisted in the <br />assembly of the data for the report. <br /> <br />Dr. D. F. Peterson, Jr., Chlef of the CIvIl Engineering <br />Section, assisted in analysis of the results and preparatIon of <br />the report. Dean T. H. Evans, ChaIrman of the EngIneering <br />DIVision of the Station and Dean of Engineering, advised on <br />direction of the work and assisted in analysis of results and <br />preparatlon of the report. Prof. Sol D. Resnick was leader of <br />the projeot. As such he had major responsIbIlity for organiza- <br />tIon and technical direotlon of the work, analysIs of results, <br />and preparation of the repor~. <br /> <br />Cost of the study was borne by both parties to the contract. <br />The College contributed the tlme Of its personnel, whIch in Prof. <br />Resnick'a oase was t'.o~thirds time for four and one-half months. <br />The NCNRA paid the costs of student aesistants, travel, communica- <br />tIon, extra rain gares, and report preparation. <br /> <br />,.' <br /> <br />rob.. <br />.~ <br />/ <br /> <br />i <br />
