"i) <br /> <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />This report summarizes Saline Water Transport and Use Office planning <br />and related activities on the AQUATRAIN Project for the previous <br />month and anticipated activities for the next 2 months. The <br />purpose of the report is to inform individuals involved with AQUATRAIN <br />of current and upcoming activities so that a coordinated effort <br />can be maintained and project flag dates met. <br /> <br />2.0 SU8TEAM: WATER RIGHTS/WATER SUPPLY/STATE ISSUES (Sturges-Murray) <br />2.1 AUGUST EVENTS <br /> <br />Briefed approximately 30 State, and local elected officials <br />in Rock Springs, Wyoming, on August 22. The meeting provided <br />a good forum for an exchange of information and expression <br />of interest and concerns regarding AQUATRAIN. The AQUATRAIN <br />Project staff also toured Pacific Power's Jim Bridger Powerplant. <br /> <br />2.2 ANTICIPATED SEPTEMBER EVENTS <br /> <br />McKeever will present testimony September 15 at the Senate <br />subcommittee hearings on the Salinity Bill S.752. <br /> <br />Briefing for State of Utah Energy Coordinating Council and <br />Utah environmental community September 27. <br /> <br />Meeting in Casper, Wyoming, with Wyoming coal, soda ash, <br />and CO2 producers to identify their interest in participating <br />in AQUATRAIN. Possible briefin9 for Wyoming environmental <br />interests on same trip. <br /> <br />Clinton to speak at the Annual Meeting of the Western Legislative <br />Conference in Fairbanks, Alaska. <br /> <br />2.3 ANTICIPATED OCTOBER EVENTS <br /> <br />Clinton, McKeever, and Sturges-Murray to attend Colorado <br />River Salinity Control Forum meeting in San Francisco. <br /> <br />3.0 SUBTEAM: COAL MARKET/COAL SUPPLY (McKeever) <br />3.1 AUGUST EVENTS <br /> <br />McKeever met with Morgan Smith of Colorado's Energy Impact <br />Advisory Committee on August 10. Smith expressed concern <br />with shrinking market radius of the State's coal industry. <br /> <br />McKeever briefed J. Allen Overton and Ed Greene, President <br />and Chief Counsel, respectively, for the American Mining <br />
