Relative to sprinkler irriga- <br /> <br />tion most of the land is classified as'class II. Some soils fall into <br />land class III primarily because of presence of rocks which, when removed, <br /> <br />would allow class II classification. <br /> <br />1.5 Tribal Goals and Objectives <br /> <br />- - ~ The goals and objectives of the Ut~ Mountain Ute Indians regarding the <br /> <br />Water and related land resources is considered to be the development of these <br /> <br />resources for crop and Ii vestock production. The 7,500 acres of land <br /> <br />_, planned for irrigation will be organized as a Tribal enterprise. A high <br /> <br /> <br />.level managerial capability will be required to run the crop and 1i vestock <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />operations. ... Qualified managers will have to be hired in order to insure the <br /> <br />.sUCt:ess, of the proj ect. <br />!~:^ Th~re existS a high rate of unemployment or underemployment on the <br />, ' <br /> <br />~5ervatioh. There is a depressed personal income and persistently high <br /> <br />unemployment in the project area. Development of the irrigation enterprise <br />will do much to stimulateec~nomic activity, create employment opportunities~ <br /> <br />and improve the standard of living of Tribe members. <br /> <br />. .
