This would provide adequate quantities of feed water for a

desalting complex.

Treatment facilities for the New River could be located where the

All-American Canal and the New River cross (see Plate No.3).

Wastewater would be discharged back into the river (Plan 1), evapo-
rated from ponds (Plan 2), or piped to the Yuma Desalting Plant
bypass drain (Plan 3) whi Ie product water would go into the canal.

An exchange agreement with the irrigation districts would be required

whereby diversions into the All-American Canal at its headworks

would be reduced by the amount of product water discharged into the

canal from the treatment facility.

The feed water would require

advanced primary treatment, secondary treatment, disinfection,

tertiary treatment, and demineralization.

Treatment of Alamo River water would consist primarily of desalt-

jng but, due to high turbidities, some primary treatment would also

be necessary. This facility could be located on the east bank of the

Alamo River near Drop 6. Wastewater would be discharged back into

the river (Plan 1), evaporated from ponds (Plan 2), or piped to the
Yuma Desalting Plant bypass drain (Plan 3) while product water would

be pumped up to the East Highline Canal. Plate No. 3 also shows the

location of this facility.

Plan

New River Facility

Primary treatment would consist of screens, grit chambers, and

coagulation and sedimentation in a clarifier.
