<br />";1 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I I <br /> <br />Annual Report For 1972 <br /> <br />Superintendent' 5 Report <br /> <br />To <br /> <br />The Amity Mutual Irrigat;on Company <br /> <br />TO TIlE DIRECTORS AND STOCKHOLDERS: <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br />The following statements covering the operation and maintenance of <br />The Amity Mutual Irrigation Company, its canals and reservoir system, are <br />submitted for your consideration. <br /> <br />AMITY CANAL <br /> <br />Again in 1972 the now of the Arkansas River was below. normal. <br />Water availability was particularly critical in the late summer months. <br />Rains, however, came at fairly timely intervals and slack periods were <br />helped by releases from the Great Plains Reservoirs. <br /> <br />John Martin Reservolr contained about 25,000 acre feet of water on <br />~ April 1. The gates were opened on April 3. This Reservoir became <br />dr,}' on April 16. The rest of the season saw the Amity depending on <br />fluctuating riverflow , along with water from the Great Plains Reservoirs. <br />The crop growth for the year was fairly good, but a series of snows <br />starting Oct. 31, created problems at harvest. <br /> <br />In May. three sections of ~oncrete cut-off wall, ]300 feet total <br />length, were installed on portions of Lamar Division . Hopefully, these <br />walls wlll impede burrowing rodents and save some costI.}" breaks in <br />that area. <br /> <br />The 22 B dragline and dozer removed sediment and straightened <br />curves on each of the four divisions in 1972. <br /> <br />Page 16 <br />
