The proposed
Grand Mesa Canal would serve a clual purpose - a gathering canal
during the storage period starting in the late fall and delivery canal
during the irrigation season to take water from Electric Mountain Reser-
voir to project lands. The potential Gorsuch Canal would deliver water
from Gorsuch Reservoir to some project lands.

(

Alfalfa hay produced on Redlands Mesa where some water is available

FLOOD CONTROL, RECREATION. Electric Mountain and Gorsuch
Reservoirs would regulate the flows of the West Muddy and Currant
Creeks. This control would reduce the damage from both high runoff
during the spring and following cloudbursts in summer. Both reservoirs
would be ideal for water sports - boating, water skiing, and fishing.
Both local residents and tourists would cCJmp along the shores. Better
regulation of flows of the streams will improve stream fishing, and the
reservoirs will provide new lake fishing. It is possible that the addition
of two new bodies of water would improve the environment for water,
fowl and other wildlife. This could result in more hunting.
