A small grain orop should be planted immediately after leveling to
prevent dama,ge from er:osion.

About 1.75 to 2.00 acre-feet of water per acre should be plenty to

produoe a yield of alfalfa in excess of 3~ tons per acre. Small grain

yields should approach maximum of about 1.0 acre-foot of water per acre.

Soils Classed No. .2
These soils in general are friable cl~ loams to light cl~s two to four
feet thick on slopes of 4 to 8 per oent, 100 to 300 feet in length.

Under good to average management practice it will probably require 10 to
20 per cent mone water to produce estimated yields (tables 1 and 2) on
"No. 2" land flhan that required on "No.1" land..

Leveling on these soils will not reduce yields noticeably exoept on small
spots for perhaps a year to two. A small grain crop should be planted
with or without alfalfa immediately after leveling to prevent damage to
the leveling work by erosion.

loindsey 1lro~
