The 1989 per capita income for Las Animas County <br />residents was $12,216, whereas the Colorado per capita income was <br />$17,504 for the same period. The population within the watershed <br />is 45% Hispanic, with an average age of 32. The average age of a <br />Colorado resident is 29.. The January to April 1991 unemployment <br />rate was 9.4% which compares with 5.9% for Colorado.
