<br /> <br />o <br />,_1 <br />(,"'1 J <br />(,J <br />( .> <br />c-, <br /> <br />~r;S[:;:'~'il,..lo <br />i <br />J.'-^_ <br /> <br />ther~ have been only e very few years when the run-off <br />in the Costitla River was large enoUgh so that the <br />Costilla Reservoir could have been filled, after first <br />filling the Eastdale l\eservoirs on their older priorities. <br />In fact, probably the year 3--941 was the only year in <br />which tneCostilla Reservoir could have been tilled after <br />first filling the Eastdale Reservoirs. <br />An incidental benefit to the co~t7"a.t '~ge, <br />which has resulted in making the initial storage ~r water <br />in th", Costilla Reservoir, has been tha tU,n a number at' <br />very dry seasons the Water company has been able to donate <br />'-water from the Costilla Reservoir to the owners at' the <br />swall ditches both in New Mexico and Colorado to save <br /> <br />their crops in times of very low water, <br /> <br />, <br />" <br /> <br />The water thus stored in the Costilla Reser- <br /> <br />voir, under the Eastdale priorities,has been brought down <br />the riVer to the headgate of the Cerra Ditch, diVerted <br />by the Cerra Ditch and carried to the boundary line between <br />Colorado and New Uexico where the water has been put <br />into Lateral 2 and carried to the lands ot the Jaroso <br />colony by means of Laterals 3-2 and J-3. <br /> <br />On account of the creation and existence of <br />(the Jaroao colony, there has been a marked curtailment <br />in the number of acres of land irrigated under the Eastdals <br />Reservoirs. <br /> <br />As hereinbefore noted. the 1905 Colorado <br />decree awarded to the Rastdale Reservoirs, during ~~e <br />irrigation season, a total of 48.625 acrs feet. <br />Since the 1905 Colorado decree was on th& <br />basis of one second f,oat for 80 acres of land, this was an <br /> <br />-19- <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />.~' ,'~ ;~"'...;~~:;~: 0.,"-, "",,0 <br /> <br />
