<br />N <br />A <br />A <br />CO <br /> <br />A representative of BLM has been assigned to the <br />Environmental Protection Agency, RegionVnI. The purpose <br />of this assignment is to provide EPA assistance in developing <br />water quality management programs that more effectively <br />deal with the salinity issues. <br /> <br />of this Progress Report. <br /> <br />Additional <br /> <br />relevant <br /> <br />EPA activities have been in the areas of program <br /> <br />support and guidance for state and Forum salinity control <br /> <br />activities. <br /> <br />Regions VIII and IX allocated 208 funds to help create <br />and support an Executive Director position for the Forum. <br />The Executive Director position has been filled. EPAhas <br />been working with the Basin states on the development of <br />state salinity strategies. In conformance with the 1978 <br />Forum report and the Third Annual Progress Report, the <br />states are developing salinity strategies. Some states <br />are developing those an an element of the State/EPA <br /> <br />agreements. <br /> <br />-21- <br /> <br />;1:: ."'- <br />
