<br />N <br />~ <br />H:lo <br />N <br /> <br />During the 1980 fiscal year, the level of funding <br /> <br />for the Water Quality Improvement Program was $2,700,000. <br />Funding for FY 1981 has been set for $4,260,000 for planning' <br />activities on the above units. <br />Department of Agriculture <br />(USDA) Programs <br /> <br />USDA participates in the Colorado River Basin Salinity <br /> <br />Control Program in response to P.L. 93-320. Funding of USDA <br /> <br />Title II activities is through ongoing USDA programs. USDA <br /> <br />identified 17 potential irrigation salt source units (1 mil- <br /> <br />lion acres of irrigated land) in the Title II areas. Possibly <br /> <br />one-half of these units will prove to be feasible projects <br /> <br />under current criteria. <br /> <br />Implementation of needed on~farm units is underway in <br /> <br />two units, the Grand Valley Unit and the Uintah Basin Unit. <br />Implementation began in the Grand Valley Unit in FY 1979 <br />and the Uinta Basin Unit in FY 1980. <br />Grand Valley, Colorado. In Fiscal Year 1980, $1.6 <br />million was made available through the Agricultural Conser- <br />vation Program (ACP) of the Agricultural Stabilization and <br />Conservation Service (ASCS) for cost-share assistance, <br />$250,000 to Soil Conservation Service (SCS) for technical <br />assistance and $250,000 for research. The federal share of <br />the cost for the annual program was reduced from 90 percent <br />to 75 percent except for pipe laterals, gated pipe, some <br />automation practices and wildlife practices, which <br />remained at the 90 percent level.
