Funding of USDA

Title II activities is through ongoing USDA programs. USDA

identified 17 potential irrigation salt source units (1 mil-

lion acres of irrigated land) in the Title II areas. Possibly

one-half of these units will prove to be feasible projects

under current criteria.

Implementation of needed on~farm units is underway in

two units, the Grand Valley Unit and the Uintah Basin Unit.
Implementation began in the Grand Valley Unit in FY 1979
and the Uinta Basin Unit in FY 1980.
Grand Valley, Colorado. In Fiscal Year 1980, $1.6
million was made available through the Agricultural Conser-
vation Program (ACP) of the Agricultural Stabilization and
Conservation Service (ASCS) for cost-share assistance,
$250,000 to Soil Conservation Service (SCS) for technical
assistance and $250,000 for research. The federal share of
the cost for the annual program was reduced from 90 percent
to 75 percent except for pipe laterals, gated pipe, some
automation practices and wildlife practices, which
remained at the 90 percent level.
