As a result, Reclamation
plans to divert Yuma Valley drains from the river into the main outlet
drain and make upstream releases to compensate for reduced flows to Mexico.

*

Designs for the m~dification to the drains are complete and modifications
for two of the drains are scheduled for completion by August 1989.
Schedule for modification of drain No. 1 is cur:rntlY under review.

Diversions of drainage water into the MODE~~ commence in September and
continue through the remainder of the calender year.

*

*

Projections indicate that this action will reduce the salinity differential
to approximately 130 parts per million.

*

Additional releases required to accomplish this would be approximately
20,000 acre-feet.
