Included in the plan is waste water reuse and a disposal

o
~
rv
o

program.

The Clark County Commission, on September 4, 1982,
approved the master plan and Phase 1 development for the
Wetlands Park. This master plan was prepared by Clark County
in coordination with the 208 planning effort.
A concluding report was issued by the Bureau of

Reclamation in March 1982, for the "Lower Virgin River Unit"

in Nevada.

The report stated, "In conclusion, no

satisfactory basis was found to formulate a project to

control salinity on the Lower Virgin River by cOllecting or

treating Littlefield Springs flow of ground water. It is
further concluded that the investigation should be

terminated."

N~~_~~~i~2 - The Section 208 program in New Mexico is
under the direction of the New Mexico Water Quality Control

Commission.

The State of New Mexico Water Quality

Management Plan was ini tially adopted by the Commission in

1978 and 1979. It has been updated three times since. The

Plan identifies the San Juan River Basin in New i'1exico as the

one of the top four priority basins for voluntary implementa-

tion of best management practices for sediment control.

The Environmental Improvement Division, a constituent

agency of the Water Quality Control Commission, is in the

process of receiving public input on a proposed Plan update

that could affect water quality in irrigated areas throughout

-30~
