has less than 400 mgll incremental increase in TDS and is
only required to monitor the intake water supply and dis-

C)
~ charge in accordance with Forum pOlicy. Bonanza and Hiawatha
~
~ have no discharge lagoons.

There were 42 industrial NPDES permit issued during this

time period. All discharges were revised according to the

1977 Forum Policy. One power plant NPDES permits was issued

during 1982.

The plant, which existed before the no

discharge policy, was limited to the historic discharge rate

since information submitted indicated it is not practical to

contain all of the waste water.

Twenty-nine of the industrial permits were for mines

with potential discharge of intercepted ground water. Of the

seven discharging mines, only the existing Rio Algom opera-

tion discharges more than one ton of salt/day and exceeds the
downstream Colorado River Salinity Standards. The company
contains all process water and uses approximately one half
the saline mine water for dust control on the tailings pond.

The company has also submitted information on the practica-

bility of achieving no discharge of salt.

Wyoming -The State of Wyoming has the authority for the

issuance of NPDES permits. During the period one industrial

permit and two municipal permits were reissued. All reissued

permits comply with the Forum policy. Two new industrial

permits were issued during the period but neither of the
discharges will impact on Colorado River salinity.

-27-
