<br /> <br />. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />Mr. James Brool<s - Mr. Brool<s is a native fish biologist for the Fish and <br />Wildlife Service at Dexter National Fish Hatchery. He has been involved with <br />collections of native and endangered fishes on the San Juan River over the <br />last four years. <br /> <br />Mr. Steven Platania - Mr. Platania was the principle author for the San Juan <br />River Fishery Report and was a participant in the initial 3-year study <br />effort. He is currently employed by the Department of Biology at the <br />University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. <br /> <br />Ms. Denise Knight - Ms. Knight is the principle non-game biologist for the <br />Utah Division, of Wildlife Resources and a member of the Colorado River Fishes' <br />Recovery Team. She has part i ci pated in fi e I d studi es on the SalJ !Juan Ri ver <br />and has been involved in review and oversight of many similar studies <br />throughout the Upper Colorado River Basin. <br /> <br />; <br />Mr. Robert Williams - Mr. Williams serves as senior staff biologist for the <br />Bureau of Reclamation and has participated extensively on field studi~s <br />throughout the Upper Colorado Basin including the San Juan River. He, has <br />been Reclamation's primary coordinator for contracted studies in the ,San <br />Juan. <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br /> <br />Dr. Rich Valdez - Dr. Valdez is a private consultant worl<ing for Bio/West in <br />Logan, Utah. Currently ass i sti ng the Southwest Water Conservancy;Di stri ct, <br />he has been involoved in review of the San Juan Fishery Reports as well as <br />conducting research on the endangered fishes throughout the Uppe.r Colorado <br />River Basin. Hr. Ross Bethel, a hydrologist representing the Southwest <br />Conservancy District, would provide hydrological information to the panel. <br /> <br />Mr. George Smith and Mr. Randall Peterson - As hydrologists for the Fish and <br />Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Reclamation respectively, would provide <br />consensus hydrological information to the panel. B~th have extensive <br />experience in accessing and modeling flows throughout the Upper Colorado <br />river system. The two would serve only in a support capacity to_the panel. <br /> <br />,The biologists listed above will be asl<ed to provide independentiresponses to <br />the following questions and then meet to determine if there is an overall <br />panel response to the questions posed. <br /> <br />1. Based on your professional judgement and data collected to date, is <br />it your view that the recovery of squawfish or continued existence of <br />razorbaCK sucl<er in the San Juan River is essential to the continued <br />existence of the species basinwide? Explain. <br /> <br />2. Based on your professional judgement and data collected to date, is <br />it your view that an additional depletion of 154,000 AF of water from the San <br />Juan River liKely to jeopardize the continued existence of the squawfish or <br />razorbaCK sucl<er? Explain. <br /> <br />3. Based on your professional judgment and data collected to date, is it <br />your opinion that any additional depletions from the San Juan River is <br />reasonably expected to directly or indirectly reduce appreciably the <br />
