Box 11606 <br />Salt Lake City, UT 84147-0606 <br /> <br />Dear Customers and Other Interested Parties: <br /> <br />On August B, 1994, Western Area Power Administration (Western) published a notice <br />in the Federal Register (FR 59 40357) announcing the start of the public consul- <br />tation process that is (I) to identify economically and technically feasible <br />methods of replacing lost Glen Canyon Dam power, (2) to develop the Replacement <br />Resource Methods Report to Congress, and (3) to draft legislation, if necessary, <br />as required by the Grand Canyon Protection Act of 1992, Title XVIII (P.L. 102- <br />575, October 30, 1992). <br /> <br />As a next step in the public consultation process, Western will develop a <br />Replacement Resource Brochure that addresses a broad range of subjects to <br />identify replacement resource methods and other associated processes. This <br />brochure is expected to be distributed widely to organizations specified in the <br />Grand Canyon Protection Act and other interested parties by September 1994. <br />Initial consultation meetings will be planned for late 1994 or early 1995, and <br />their dates and locations will be published in later Federal Register notices, <br /> <br />An earlier version of the text used for publication and signed by Western's <br />Administrator is enclosed, The final notice added'one more reference to a past <br />Federal Register notice regarding the Glen Canyon Dam Draft Environmental Impact <br />Statement.
