Where the <br />river Ilows lhrough cullivaled lands, <br />there IS ollen a fflnge 01 trees sep- <br />arating these lands from the river. <br />Much of the LIllie Miami is usable <br />lor canoeing The low degree 01 <br />dltllculty and the leisurely pace of <br />the rIVer, enhanced by a meander- <br />Ing channel marked by occasional <br />rillles, makes a trip on the Little <br />Miami enjoyable for the average <br />canoeist. Camping, hiking, nalure <br />study, biking, and picnicking are <br />popular along the river. <br />The 66 miles 01 the LIllie Miami <br />River from Glen Island, just below <br />Foster, Ohio, upstream to the Stale <br />Highway 72 crossing at Clifton, and <br />the twO miles of Caesars Creel< <br />from below Caesars Creek Dam to <br />the creek's confluence with the <br />Little Miami are Slate~administered <br />components 01 the National System. <br />There is sentiment in south-cen- <br />tral Ohio lor the inclusion of more <br />of the stream in the National Sys- <br />tem. BOR's Lake Central Regional <br />Olllce is cooperating With local or. <br />ganizations and units 01 government <br />in determmmg what is necessary to <br />bring Ihe lower penion of the river <br />up to the standards necessary for <br />Its incluSlOn in the National Wild <br />and SceniC Rivers System. <br />The L,ltle Beaver Creek stream <br />system and surroundmg valleys <br />contain some 01 the most sceniC <br />and wild areas In the Midwest., Jt is <br />a river of steeply incised valleys, <br />abundantly wooded slopes, Sleep <br />10C~ outcropplngs. boulder-strewn, <br />fast-moving rapids and ri11les.
