Normally,
existing storage, toget.her with anticipated infloHs, ,,'(mld not be suf-
ficient to supp];j' September demands. However, the cropped acreage is
less than average because of the flood damage to crops and cana13 early
in the season. Because of this factor and reduced demands in !!ay and
June, some irrigation districts in the North Platte Project may have a
slight surplus. Other districts will have used their storage water
early in Sept aMber and be entirely dependent upon natural inflow for
the remainder of their require'lent. Some of the North Platte Project
users obtained ,.ater from the Kendrick Project. However, use of Kendrick
water has been relatively minor to date and total use is not expected
to exceed ~,OOO acre-feet. Irrigation shortage ,till be much less than
anticipated at the beginning of the irrigation season.

Colorado-Big Thompson users had about 60,000 acre-feet of
project water left on ~ugust 31 compared to 40,000 acre-feet on
August 31, 195!l. Crops are reportedly in good condition and it appears
that there ,<ill be sufficient water to finish the remaining crops.
There is a possibility that a small amount of the rented ,ater will
not be used, Since some crops were abandoned during the month of
August to conserve water for the rel'lainder.
