Relationship to RIPRAP: <br /> <br />Inundated floodplains and terraces are highly productive components of the riverine ecosystem. These <br />areas of shallow, slow-moving water typically have higher nutrient concentrations, primary productivity <br />and invertebrate densities (ongoing studies by Shiozawa; Cooper; see Forsberg et al. 1993) than adjacent <br />areas of main channel flow, and these wetlands may serve as essential rearing habitat for some !ish species, <br /> <br />I <br />
