Industrial development

Agriculture is the basic industry of the project area with livestock
constituting the major agricultural product. Most of the irrigated farm-
lands are devoted to the production of livestock feeds which are used in
conjunction with nearby private and public rangelands. Some potatoes and
other row crops are produced on the irrigated project lands. Most of the

Irrigation development

Successful farming operations in the area have always been dependent
upon irrigation. The first appropriations of natural streamflows for
irrigation were made in 1882. immediately fOllowing settlement of the area
