Project
effects other than for irrigation have not been evaluated.

.

,later would be conveyed in the Basalt Conduit 1;hich would head at
the outlet of Ruedi Reservoir and extend northwest 22 miles to the
existing Missouri Heights Reservoir which would be enlarged. This
water plus surplus flows of' Cattle Creek would be stored in Missouri
Heights Reservoir during the nonirrigation season. During the irri-
gation season water conveyed by the Basalt Conduit would flow through
the reservoir and would be used together with released storage water
for irrigation.

The Landis Canal ,lould head at the outlet of the Missouri Heights
Reserv-oir and extend north1;est 22.8 miles, distributing water to
lands in the upper Cattle Creek and Spring Valley areas. The canal
would also deliver water at its terminus to the Spring Valley lat-
eral system which serves lands on SprinB Valley Bench. The Carbon-
dale Canal would head on a natural' channel about one mile below the
outlet of' Missouri Heights Reservoir and would extend southwest 12.6
miles, crossing Roaring Fork River by.siphon and providing water to
lands in the Carbondale area. The Sopris Canal would branch from
the Carbondale Canal at the outlet of the Roaring Fork siphon and
would ,convey water to lands in the Sopris area. Project works would
intercept and utilize some surplus water of local streams. Some
lands located above project distribution facilities would receive
additi"onal water by exchange.

.
