A tabu. lation of the number of visitor days to recreation areas made possible by the Colorado River Storage Project and Par- ticipating Projects as shown on the opposite page reveals thai millions afford themselves Ihis opportunity each year, many on a repeal basis. Major improvements and additions dur- ing Fiscal Year 1972 were made to recreation facilities in the Glen Canyon- Lak.e Powell area, at Blue Mesa Reser- voir of the Curecanli Unit, and at the Heron Reservoir of the San Juan-Chama Projl-oct. These included a water tmat- ment plant, sewage system, paved park.- ing area, an access road to the conces- sionaire's lodge at Lees Ferry, II sewa~t! system correction and floating comfort station at Rainbow Bridge, and addi- tional water and sewage facilities al Wahweap, all in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. In the Curecanti Recreation Area a tree plant- ing project for the visitor conter at Elk Creek was completed, and water, sewer, and electrical facilities were construc_ ted at Lake Fork. At Heron Reservoir a rest stop and overlook were startod. Plans are being developed to provide recreation facilities at Tyzack Reservoir of the Jensen Unit of the Central Utah Project. Recreation facilities at Flaming Gorge, while only aoout60 percent com- plete, are extensiVe. However, available facilities are taxed to capacity on many weekends and holidays during the summer months. Glen Canyon facilities are ahout 30 percent complllle as are those at the Curecanli Unit. Starvation Reservoir on the Bonneville Unit has a boat ramp, parking areB and access road. Facilities are complete at the fol- lowing reservoirs: Huntington North, Lemon, Paonia, Fontenelle, Rine Gap, Crawford, and Stainaker, Facilititls have yet 10 be constructed at Meek.'l Cabin Reservoir of the Lyman Projecl and Silver Jack.
