A tabu. <br />lation of the number of visitor days to <br />recreation areas made possible by the <br />Colorado River Storage Project and Par- <br />ticipating Projects as shown on the <br />opposite page reveals thai millions <br />afford themselves Ihis opportunity each <br />year, many on a repeal basis. <br /> <br />Major improvements and additions dur- <br />ing Fiscal Year 1972 were made to <br />recreation facilities in the Glen Canyon- <br />Lak.e Powell area, at Blue Mesa Reser- <br />voir of the Curecanli Unit, and at the <br />Heron Reservoir of the San Juan-Chama <br />Projl-oct. These included a water tmat- <br />ment plant, sewage system, paved park.- <br />ing area, an access road to the conces- <br /> <br />sionaire's lodge at Lees Ferry, II sewa~t! <br />system correction and floating comfort <br />station at Rainbow Bridge, and addi- <br />tional water and sewage facilities al <br />Wahweap, all in the Glen Canyon <br />National Recreation Area. In the <br />Curecanti Recreation Area a tree plant- <br />ing project for the visitor conter at Elk <br />Creek was completed, and water, sewer, <br />and electrical facilities were construc_ <br />ted at Lake Fork. At Heron Reservoir <br />a rest stop and overlook were startod. <br /> <br />Plans are being developed to provide <br />recreation facilities at Tyzack Reservoir <br />of the Jensen Unit of the Central Utah <br />Project. Recreation facilities at Flaming <br />Gorge, while only aoout60 percent com- <br />plete, are extensiVe. However, available <br />facilities are taxed to capacity on many <br />weekends and holidays during the <br />summer months. Glen Canyon facilities <br />are ahout 30 percent complllle as are <br />those at the Curecanli Unit. Starvation <br />Reservoir on the Bonneville Unit has <br />a boat ramp, parking areB and access <br />road. Facilities are complete at the fol- <br />lowing reservoirs: Huntington North, <br />Lemon, Paonia, Fontenelle, Rine Gap, <br />Crawford, and Stainaker, Facilititls have <br />yet 10 be constructed at Meek.'l Cabin <br />Reservoir of the Lyman Projecl and <br />Silver Jack.
