PLANNING RELATED
RESEARCH: Problem related and applied research actlvities having
water or related land resources planning applications.

results to practlce).

SPECIAL STUDIES: Investigations and analysis of unlque issues or prOblems
that may include elements of the other five categorical
classifications. (Examples: alternative uses of water;
upland erosion and sediment control; reevaluation of an
authorized project, EPA Section 20B studies).

REGIONAL OR RIVER
BASIN PLANNING: Reconnaissance level evaluations of water and related land
resources for a selected region or river basin. (Examples:
Framework StUdies; Regional or River Basin level B StUdies;
Subregional analyses; and others).

IMPLEMENTATION
STUDIES: Preliminary or detailed investigations of the feasibility
of a program or project or the desinn. (Examples: review
or survey reports, feasibility studies, resource evaluations).

IMPLEMENTATION OF
PROJECTS AND
PROGRAMS: Actual construction of authorized projects or implementation
of authorized programs. (Examples: P.L. 566, assistance in
coordination, Fish and Wildlife Research programs).
