Recent data and theoretical development have <br />yielded models that predict the amount of mineral weathering and <br />salt precipitation as a function of mineralogy and water quality. <br />These models need to be verified under field conditions in the <br />Grand Valley. At prevailing leaching fractions, precipitation is <br />likely to be dominant.
