These estimates are now

.,1

in the process of being ravised to reflect more accurate estimates
by the Bureau of Reclamation.

More recent estimates for man days of use for the Animas-La Plata

Project ara as follows:

Recreation: 220,000 man days.

fish 55,000 man days.

,'I

Current recreation man days were computed by the Bureau of

Reclamation and should be considered preliminary as of December,

1977. Their final figures will not be available until spring of

1978. Current fishing benefits heve been developed by the U.S. fish

& Wildlife Service based on a computer simulation model which derives

water body. As of December, 1977 figures on wildlife

benefits were not available and were ~ included in this study.

Current values used to estimate benefits of recreation average

$2.00/man day. These values give a benefit of $440,000 to recreation.

The $2.00 figure is based on estimates which have not been revised

since at least 1973. Since 1973 the consumer price index has risen

47.9 percent. It seems only logical that tha value of a man day
should be revised upwards to reflect reality. This adjustment would

21
