This study demonst.rates that, the oil shale industry will need
at least 37,000 acre-feet o} storage to firm up rights established to the
l"e of direct flow in the Colorado River in the Rifle-De Beque at'ea by
1975 for ll1uniciprd and industrial uses presented in the Cameron &
Jones report.
Extending: the Came-l'on & .Tolles studies and assnming that the
municipal al1(l indus.trial requi'tem?nts .will grow at. the same l'ate as
the IlntlOlllll.J.)opulat.llllI t.l'elld, or 1;1 perl'e.llt. pt'>l' de('.ade. compollnded,
the total :wn'ibJ municipal and industrial water consurPptiol1 require-
ments in the'Rille-De Be'!ue area would be 217,200 occre.feet bv the
year 2014. This is the year that t.he t.otal yield of R\Iedi Reservoir
would be I't"quil'cd for lllunicipa.l and industrial purposes according to
estimates made by the Bureau of Reclamation.
