The <br />grazing period reported on by Lusby (26), which encompasses the season <br />when soils would be most likely to freeze, is November 15 through <br />February 15. Figure 1 illustrates the effect of sheep grazing upon a <br />loose, friable soil during the critical spring period when soils are <br />moist and unfrozen (through March 31). Forage utilization should not <br />exceed 50 percent. on grazed pastures (11).
