Low range fall has taken a toll in parIS of New Mexico, crops have died, etc, <br /> <br />Stored water in the n:seMlirs have carried most of the State through the drought, Also have SIIpplementaJ <br />wells. F~ mppRSSion is a big COil in New Mexico, this is State and fORSt lands, In 1996, there were <br />781 fires (75,000 acres). Cost for the State went from $.8 to $7.5 million from 1990 to 1996, <br /> <br />In May, the Governor put togetber a TASK Force. A Depanment of Public Safety Emergency <br />Management Plan for the State of New Mexico is being implemented.
