Natalie <br />SOfa and Associaled Press Contrib- <br />uted 10 this report. <br /> <br />house at 10530 Legault Lane at about <br />3 p.m. when a "freak wind" - possi- <br />bly a small tornado - caused the <br />porch to collapse on him. <br />Fire officials arrived at the house <br />to find the man, described as in his <br />60s, buried under the rubble. <br />A tornado spotted by the Arapahoe <br />County Sheriff's Department touched <br />down east of Watkins at 4:38 p.m. <br />yesterday, said National Weather <br />Service forecaster Mike Baker. but <br />no damage was reported. <br />Forecaster Byron Louis said funnel <br />clouds were reported near Watkins, <br />near Bennett. at West 88th Avenue <br />and Wadsworth Boulevard in West- <br />minster and at Chatfield Reservoir as <br />the line of storms moved northeast <br />through the Denver area. <br />Englewood police reported that <br />lightning struck the roof of the Cher- <br />relyn Elementary School. 4550 S. <br />Lincoln St.. shortly before 4:30 p.m. <br />Firelighters quickly put out the re- <br />sulting fire. <br />The school was empty at the time <br />of the strike. and no injuries were <br />reported. police said. <br />For the most part, the storm failed <br />to match the havoc of a huge rain- <br />stonn 17 hours earlier. Rush-hour <br />traffic in the metro area was slowed <br />by the heavy rains, but no major <br />problems or flooding was reported. <br />Earlier yesterday, fort'Casters ex. <br />pected the rains to rival Monday <br />night's. in which the weather service <br />measured 1.82 inches of rain at Sta- <br />pleton International Airport - more <br />tban tbe 1.58 inches that Denver typi. <br />cally gets in all of June. <br />Partly cloudy skies will continue <br />again today with a chance for <br />5..
