o
I::)
p..
I ..
C:l

,-
...,

REPORTING AND COORDINA nON

Annual reports will consist primarily of tabulated data (with figures and maps, as
appropriate) obtained during each monitoring effort. Important findings will be presented as brief
narratives. Summary reports, synthesizing data in annual reports (larval, young-of-year/small-
bodied and subadultlIarge-bodied), will be prepared every five years. Minimally, these reports will
eontain information on patterns or trends in the abundance and size-structure of eommon species
(native and nonnative), somatic condition of common fish species, assessments of recruitment,
and longitudinal abundance and population size-structure patterns. Appropriate uni- and
multivariate statistical methods will be used to assess the data.

All data in each annual report will also be submitted on disk or bye-mail for incorporation
into the GIS database maintained on San Juan River research and monitoring aetivities.

Annual monitoring results will be submitted to the USFWS, Region 2 and GIS database
manager by 31 March of the year following eaeh monitoring effort. Five-year summary reports
will be due to the Biology Committee by 1 October of the year following completion of the five-
year segment. All reports should be in scientific journal style (e.g., The Southwestern Naturalist).
All reports are draft until reviewed and accepted by the Biology Committee. Upon acceptance of
the reports, the Biology Committee will submit a joint annual or summary report to the SJRRIP
Coordination Committee within 3 months of final Biology Committee approval.

Other research endeavors will be conducted in a manner and schedule to ensure that their
field work does not interfere with or disrupt monitoring activities. If there are questions
regarding this potential, the principal investigator for the research activity must communicate the
nature and extent of the proposed activity with the entity responsible for the monitoring
segment(s) that might be disrupted or compromised. If potential confliets are not resolvable at
this level, the matter will be taken to the SJRRIP Biology Committee for resolution.

16

Draft Long TenTI Monitoring Plan - SJRIP Biology Committee
