It would be a moderate capacity (I ,600 pph) detachable, high-speed quad-type lift and would
be approximately 1,000 feet longer than in Alternative B (Le., 5,000 feet long) with a vertical rise of about 1,525
feet (Table 2.3). The lift would be driven from the upper terminal and power would be supplied through an
existing underground cable to the upper terminal of the former Nugget Lift.

I

The skiable area and terrain capacity associated with the new Thunderbowl Lift would be the same under
Alternative C as under Alternative B (i.e., 96 acres and 962 skiers, respectively). Similarly, the access and egress
areas for the longer, realigned Thunderbowl Lift would be at the base area. The lift would serve intermediate and
advanced skiing terrain including some mid-Mountain ski trails, such as Susy-Q, Nugget, and Shred It (former
Nugget Lift line). The elongated ski lift would increase the length of slopes usable for racing and it would be used
for teaching, racing, special events, and repeat skiing. II would also increase access to the lower terminal of
Exhibition II.

S1tEPLECHASE AID HIGHLAND BOWl
The alignments and technical specifications of the Steeplechase and Highland Bowl lifts in Alternative C are
identical to those described under Alternative B. However, due to anticipated change in skier dynamics with the
introduction of the Highland Surface and Ridge Surface lifts, the area serviced by the Steeplechase and Highlands
lifts under Alternative C and the corresponding terrain capacities would be slightly less relative to Alternative
B. Under Alternative C. the skiable area and terrain capacity associated with the Steeplechase Lift would be 190
acres and 1,907 skiers, respectively. and those associated with Highlands Lift would be 123 acres and 1,155
skiers. respectively. '

HIGHWD SURFACE
The Highland Surface Lift would extend from about 120 feet west of the top terminal of the Highland Bowl Lift
to about 150 feet east of Highland Peak (Figure 2.4). It would be a surface lift, about 1.000 feet in length, a
vertical rise of about 300 feet, and ,a carrying capacity of about 500 pph. The lift would be powered from the
terminal base with power being supplied from the base of Highland Bowl Lift through an underground utility
trench. The skiable area and terrain capacity of the Highland Surface Lift would be 30 acres and 238 skiers,
respectively.

RIDGE SURFACE
The Ridge Surface Lift in Alternative C would extend along the ridgeline between Loge Peak and Highland Peak
with the lower terminal being about 850 feet to the south and 400 feel to the east of Loge Peak and the top
terminal about 2,600 feet due nonb of Loge Peak (Figure 2.4). The lift would be a surface lift, about 1,800 feet

Allenzalive C - Preferred A/lernalille
Lifts CJJ1.d AS30ciaJed T t:"oin

2-13
