<:)

.::)

~
~
~

PREFACE

Data for this section of the AWR Report were furnished by
the following agencies:

Department of the Interior:

,II
, I

Fish and Wildlife Service in conjunction with
State Game and Fish Departments on evaluation of the effects on fish
and wildlife resources.

Bureau of Reclamation on multiple-purpose irriga-
tion and water supply projects which include flood control.

Department of Commerce:

Weather Bureau on plans for flood forecasting.

Department of Agriculture:

Soil Conservation Service and Forest Service on
material descriptive of the minor tributaries and the waterflow-
retardation program.

Department of the Army:

Corps of Engineers on material descriptive of
major tributaries and main stems, and of major flood-control projects.

Necessarily, because the data have been obtained in vary-
ing scope of detail over many years, and projects and programs have
been formulated under different legislative directives and admin-
istrative policies, each of the agencies assumes full responsibility
for the data and evaluation it furnished for inclusion in this sec-
tion of the report.

Prior to and during this investigation, State representa-
tives have rendered invaluable aid in correlating data, coordinating
dissimilar views, and overcoming obstacles. It is assumed that the
concurrence of the States in the conclusions reached in this section
will be sought at a later date under existing Federal and State laws
and administrative procedures.

i
