Page Sixteen

XI. Recommendations

The need exists for an extensive study of the groundwater resources in the

Denver Basin. This study should include the following:

A. Engineering, reconnaissance-level, evaluation of groundwater development

alternatives, particularly considering the integration of the alternatives

into the total surface groundwater supply system for base load, peaking

and dry year supply.

B. The economics and feasibility of various groundwater systems should be

evaluated with particular attention given to cost per unit of water of the

total integrated water supply. This study should take into account well

replacement capital costs, energy capacity requirements and operating and

maintenance costs.

C. The environmental considerations of large-scale groundwater development.

D. The possibility, magnitude and timing for demands of groundwater users to

be included in the surface supply system.
