~~~\.~
was completed August 9, 1968. Four hundred sixty sacks of cement 'Jere
used to plug the well.
.
The total contract cost was $35,52l.45 for plugging the two wells
including $27,443.95 for the Meeker 'Jell on White River and $8,077.50 for
the Piceance Creek well. Total cost including engineering is estimated to
be about $40,000.
REEULTS ON fALINITY
Meeker Well
The Bureau of Reclamation periodically obtains quality samples at the
Geological Survey gage, White River below Meeker. Table 3 shows the anal-
ysis of l7 samples obtained during the 2 years preceding and 4 samples ob-
tained follo'Jing the plugging of the well.
The analysis of the samples
obtained after the well was plugged indicates that the concentration and
load of sodium has been reduced over 50 percent, chloride over 75 percent,
and sulfate just slightly. The quantity of potassium is too small to de-
termine any improvement from this table. Figure 1 shows the decrease in
the sodium and chloride concentration ai'ter plugging the well. Table 4
sho'Js the mineral concentration of samples obtained s;nce Jw,c 1964 ad-
justed to the concentration of the August 1, 1968, sample.
