They have <br /> <br />decreed water rights from the Lake Creek drainage for one fil- <br /> <br />ling of the reservoir per year and also have decreed direct <br /> <br />flow rights in the ROi2rin.o; Fork River Basin for transmountain <br /> <br />diversion to the east slope where saic \Jater can be stored in <br /> <br />Twin Lakes. They will be allo\Jed comparnble storage in the <br /> <br />Fryingpan-Arkansas Pr.6ject facilities. <br /> <br />Twin Lakes Tunnel, a translDountain \Jater diversion, project, <br /> <br />diverts water from the headwaters of the Roaring Fork River <br /> <br />to Lake Creek above Twin Lakes. Water diversions will be <br /> <br />regulated in Twin Lakes and routed through the Otero Powerplant <br /> <br />for power generation. Twin Lakes Reservoir and Canal Company <br /> <br />imports an average of approximately 50,000 acre-feet of water <br /> <br />annually with present completed features. <br /> <br />The authorizing legislation for the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project <br /> <br />allows for the diversion of 3,000 acre-feet of water from <br /> <br />Hunter Creek to the eastern slope and in exchange, a like <br /> <br />amount of diversion, will be foregone by the Twin Lakes Reser- <br /> <br />voir and Canal Company from the headwaters of the Roaring Fork <br /> <br />RiVer. This 3,000 acre-feet of "Clter will be returned to the <br /> <br />company as it is released from the Mt. Elbert Forebay into <br /> <br />Twin Lakes.
