<br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> <br />I recommend that the levee improvement presented in this report <br /> <br /> <br />be approved for construction under the authority of Section 205 of <br /> <br /> <br />the 1948 Flood Control Act, as amended, and that Federal funds bt <br /> <br /> <br />allotted for construction of the Federal portion of the project pro- <br /> <br /> <br />viding local interests meet the following requirements for local <br /> <br /> <br />cooperation; <br /> <br /> <br />a. Provide without cost to the United States all lands, easements, <br /> <br /> <br />rights-of-Way, and spon disposal areas necessary for construction, <br /> <br /> <br />maintenance, and operation of the project. <br /> <br /> <br />b. Bear the cost of all alterations and relocations of utilities, <br /> <br /> <br />and any other community services that are required for construction of <br /> <br /> <br />the project. <br /> <br /> <br />c. Hold and save the United States free from damages due to the <br /> <br /> <br />construction of the project. <br /> <br /> <br />d. Prevent any encroachment that would prevent or restrict the <br /> <br /> <br />flow in the existing channels. <br /> <br /> <br />e. Prevent any encroachment on the ponding areas that would <br /> <br /> <br />decrease the capacities. <br /> <br /> <br />f. Maintain and operate the project in accordance with the regu- <br /> <br /> <br />lations prescribed by the Secretary of the Army. <br /> <br /> <br />g. Assume full responsibility for all project costs in excess of <br /> <br /> <br />the Federal cost limitation of $1,000,000. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />39 <br />
