No. LK-2 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Black Cloud Mine is owned and operated by the American <br />Smelting and Refining Company. The mill superintendent is Mike <br />Misku1in. The mine is located approximately 8 miles upstream <br />of the mouth of Iowa Gulch, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Black Cloud Mine uses recycled water from its tailings pond <br />for the mining operations. All of the mine drainage water is <br />discharged through the Yak Tunnel, The tailings pond has a <br />small settling pond immediately downstream and is used when the <br />water level in the tailings pond reaches the top of the decant <br />tower. The tailings pond has not been known to discharge, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Be11house Mine - Sto Kevints Gulch <br />NPDES #CO-0029823 <br />WQMP 1.0. No. LK-17 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Be11house Mine was recently activated during the fall of <br />1974. The mine has a continuous discharge of mine drainage. <br />During working hours, the discharge is very turbid with a very <br />bright reddish-orange color. but the discharge becomes very <br />clear overnight after the mining operation is halted. There is <br />currently no treatment being applied. but future plans include <br />a sedimentation basin. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Climax Gravel Company <br />NPDES # <br />WQt~P 1.0, No, LK-15 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Climax Gravel Company is located approximately 12 miles <br />northeast of Leadville, This is a gravel washing operation <br />which is owned by Climax Molybdenum Company and leased to a <br />private company for extraction. The company adds a polyelec- <br />trolyte mixture prior to sedimentation, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />. <br />
