Re$ion, April 7, 1976 were mailed <br />on April 14, 1976 to the public participants listed herein. <br /> <br /> <br />Replies to the inquiry of April 14, 1976 were received from <br />the following: <br /> <br />Mr; Charles L. Thomson, General Manager <br />Southeastern Colorado Water Conservation District <br />Pueblo, Colorado 81002 <br /> <br />Mr. Guy E. Gibson, Chief Engineer <br />Kansas Department of Agriculture <br />Topeka, Kansas 66612 <br /> <br />Mr. Don Gillaspie, Area Conservationist <br />Soil Conservation Service <br />Alamosa, Colorado 81101 <br /> <br />~ummary of comments received: <br /> <br />Mr. Charles Thomson provided the information that the Corps <br />of Engineers was currently reviewing the flood problems in the <br />Basin, and they had scheduled the initiation of construction <br />of the Las Animas Flood Control Project in the next few months, <br />He also reported that the Arkansas River Compact was now under <br />study by a Special Compact Committee. <br /> <br />Mr Guy Gibson stated that the State of Kansas was vitally <br />concerned that the waters of the Arkansas River will not be <br />materially depleted in usable quantity and availability for use <br />to the water users in Kansas. <br /> <br />Mr. Don Gillaspie provides the information that flood pro- <br />tection was also needed for Salida, Cotopaxi and Canon City. <br />Under the Problem List (60-A1, Bl, Fl, GS) is given the need for <br />dependable and regular funding for agricultural programs. Mr. <br />Gillaspie specifically mentioned the needs for the Soil Conser- <br />vation Service, Small Watershed Program P.L.S66, and the Sangre de <br />Cristo R C & D program. <br /> <br />The Problem List presented in the Technical Memorandum <br />(Activity 2, Phase II) reflects the comments and suggestions <br />above when considered appropriate for inclusion in Activity 2. <br /> <br />141 <br />
