Dear General Rose:

The staff of the Texas Water Quality BOard has reviewed the 1975
National Water Assessmen't: of Water and Related Land Resourc(,s fo,r
the Arkansas-Mlite-Red River Basins as prepared by the Texas Water
Development Board and offers the following co~nents on the assess-
ment report.

Concerning the endangered species list on page 13 and following,
since most of thespeoies listed are not within the region, the
report would, be more accnra't:e if these were deleted :from the list
and only those shown that aotually exists within the region.

We believe the report would be significantly enhanced if it in-
oluc1(,d an appropriate description of water quality management as
called for in the "Guidelines for Activity 2, Phase II, Specific
Problem Analyses, dated October, 1975." This entire region within
the State of Texas is covered with five river basin water quality
management plans that have been formally approved by the pollution
