onJjJO

~ 2.2 RAIN GAGES

MODEL 5054D - SELF-REPORTING RAIN STATION: For automatically reporting
rainfall, the Model 5054D is an ideal choice for flood warning systems. As
each one millimeter increment of rain is measured by the tipping bucket, a
radio message is instantly transmitted to a base station computer.

The harder it rains, the harder the 5054D works for you. An increase in the
rainfall rate automatically increases its data reporting rate. You are
instantly informed about rapidly changing conditions at remote locations.
Early detection of potential flash flooding requires this kind of high
performance.

The 5054D Self-Reporting Rain Station is completely self-contained in a
cylindrical standpipe which provides for the sensor enclosure, antenna
mount, and electronics housing. The package includes:

5054SA
5040
5050P
5050ANT

Standpipe assembly with antenna mast
Transmitter with battery
Tipping bucket rain sensor
Omni antenna with all cables and connectors

The 5054D is an integrated station designed to have a minimum environmental
impact while providing maximum security for enclosed components.

.

5054SA STANDPIPE ASSEMBLY WITH ANTENNA MAST' The twelve foot tall 5054
standpipe assembly consists of a two foot top section and a ten foot bottom
section. Light weight aluminum is used for the 12--inch diameter standpipe
to form a sturdy housing that is easy to transport and install in remote
areas. Forest green or a dull brown paint helps the 5054SA blend in with
the surrounding vegetation and terrain.

The top section houses the rain collector funnel with its two protective
screens and the tipping bucket assembly. The bottom section is used as the
support structure, antenna mount, and housing for the 5040 transmitter.

.

5054SA Specifications
Materials: Aluminum
Size: Top Section' 12 in. dia x 2 ft.
Bottom Section: 12 in. dia x 10 ft.
Input ports, 1 antenna port, standard
Protection: Primed and painted
Height of gage oriface: 10 ft. above ground
Height of antenna: 12 ft. above ground

.

5040 " VHF DATA TRANSMITTER: Using state-of-the-art CMOS components, the
microprocessor"based 5040 transmits data from remote sites to a central
base station. Extremely low current drain (less than 25 microamps in
standby mode) and short data transmission times (less than 0.25 seconds per
message) eliminate the need for external power sources. For rainfall data
transmission, a single four amp..hour battery is sufficient to power the
5040 transmitter for one year.
