<br />Location,--I'Iater-stage recorder, lat 36034148", long 106"43'24", in Tierra Amarilla Grant, 1.5
<br />miles downstream from E1 Vado Dam, 2.8 miles upstream from Rio Nutrias, and 13 miles south-
<br />west of Tierra Amari1la, Rio Arriba County. Datum of gage is 6,696.12 ft above mean sea
<br />level, datum of 1929. Prior to October 1935, at site 1.5 miles upstream and October 1935
<br />to September 1938, at site 1.1 miles upstream at different datum.
<br />
<br />Draina~e area.--877 sq mi.
<br />
<br />Average discharge,--4 years (1914, 1921-23), 444 cfs prior to completion of El Vado Dam;
<br />35 years (1936-70), 372 cfs (269,500 acre-ft per year) subsequent to completion of EI Vado
<br />Dam but prior to completion of Heron Dam and Azotea tunnel.

<br />(gage height, 12 ft); no flow Mar. 25, 26, 31, 1955.

<br />Relllarks.--Recorus good except those for some winter months, which are poor. Diversions above
<br />station for irrigation of about 8,000 acres. Since 1935 flow regulated by E1 Vado Reservoi
<br />and since October 1970 flow partly regulated by Heron Reservoir. Subsequent to May 1971
<br />flow affected by releases of San Juan water from Heron Reservoir.

<br />Location.--Water-stage recorder, lat 36014'12", long 106024'59", in SEl:iSEl:a: sec. 8, T. '23 iL,
<br />R. 5 E., on right bank 0.8 mile downstream from Abiquiu Dam and 5.9 miles northwest of
<br />Abiquiu. Altitude of gage is 6,040 ft (from river-profile map and topographic map).
<br />Draina~e area.-~2,147 sq mi of which about 100 sq mi is probably noncontributing.
<br />Avera~e dischar~e.-~13 years (1926-74), 366 cfs (265,200 acre-feet per year).
<br />Extremes.--1961-74: Maximum discharge, 2,990 cfs July I, 1965 (gage height, 6.69 ft);
<br />minimum about 0.5 cfs Mar. 17, 1966.
<br />Remarks.--Records good except those for winter months, which are fair. Flow regulated by
<br />Heron, El Vado, and Abiquiu Reservoirs. Diversions above station for irrigation of about
<br />17,000 acres. Subsequent to May 1971 flow affected by the release of transmountain water.
