Flood-control regulation is also provided
by Fort Supply Reservoir (capacity, 107,500 acre-feet at spillway crest)
on the tributary Wolf Creek, controlling flow from 14 percent of the
drainage area of the min stream above Canton.

A characteristic of the stream is the occurrence of large channel
losses in the entire reach above El Reno, Oklahoma.

At Oklahoma City diversions of flow are made to Lake Overholser and
Lake Hefner (combined capacity, 96,000 acre-feet) for municipal water
supply. The stream is subject to pollution from oilfield brines and is
too highly mineralized in the lower basin for any general use until
corrective measures are applied.

2-7
