(J.;o <br />~ <br /> <br />This project Is located In southwestem Colorado and northwestem New Mexico. <br /> <br />The authorized project would provfde 80,100 acre-feet annually of municipal and <br />Industrial (M&I) water supplies. This project Is currently required to satisfy the <br />requirements Of the Colorado Ute Indian Water Rights Settlement Act of 1988. <br />New M&I water supplies of 7,600 acre teet would be provided tor the Navajo <br />Tribe; 6,000 acre-teet tor the Ute MountaIn Ute Tribe; and 26,500 acre-teet for <br />the Southem Ute Indian Tribe. M&I water of 9,200 acre teet would also be <br />provided for Colorado non-Indians (for Durango and La Plata and adjacent rural <br />areas) and 30,800 acre-teet for New Mexico communities and rural areas. The <br />project would provide a full water supply for the Irrigation of 11,980 acres of Ute <br />Mountain Ute Indian tribal land, 31,500 acres of non-Indian land In Colorado, <br />1,800 acres of Southem Ute Indian Reservation tribal land, and 4,530 acres of <br />non-Indian land In New Mexico. A supplemental supply would be provided for <br />17,650 acres of presently Irrigated land. Benefrts would also result from <br />recreation and fish and wildlife enhancement The Other Information section, <br />shown on a later page, explains the limitations on construction of certain <br />features In accordance with the final biological opinion. <br /> <br />Public Law 90-537, September 30, 1968, and Public Law 100-585, November 3, <br />1988. <br /> <br />January 19, 1982. The benefit-cost ratio Includes Interest during <br />construction on both Federal and non-Federal contributions where applicable. <br /> <br />A cost-sharing agreement was signed with State, Federal. and Tribal entitles on <br />June 30, 1986, providing that Phase 1 of the project would be constructed In <br />not less than 12 years from Inlllal construction.
