The <br />ColoradO Department of ~atural Resources was named as the lead state agency for the State review <br />prOl:ess. <br /> <br />B. PUBLIC RESPONSE <br /> <br />Contributions to the study effort include the following. <br /> <br />Federal A~encie~ <br /> <br />l <br /> <br />eSDI-Bureau of Reclamation: Provided the written reports for the proposed O'Neal project and a <br />statement that the Piedra River was not being considered in any of their current inventory <br />or planning activities. <br /> <br />USOI-Heritage Conservation and Recreation Service (formally Bureau of Outdoor Recreation): <br />Acted as member of study team and provided liai~on with the U.S. Depart~ent of Interior. <br /> <br />USDA-Farmers Home Administration: PrOVided appraisal data for the value of local crop land, <br />livestock and field crops. <br /> <br />USDA-Soil Conservation Service: Provided data for locsl irrigation situations and efficienCies. <br /> <br />Department of Local Affairs, Colorado Division of Planning: This agency acted to coordil~te <br />State review of the various study documents and forward State comments to the study team. <br /> <br />! <br /> <br />State Agencies <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Colorado Depar~ent of Health: Indicated they preferred the selected alternative, but sttessed <br />that regardless of the final selection, water quality standards must be met. <br /> <br />Colorado Division of water Resources: Provided the data for adjudicated water rights on the <br />Piedra River. <br /> <br />Colorado Division of Wildlife: Provided all wildlife and fisheries data. <br /> <br />The State Historical Society of Colorado: Provided the material for the history of the region <br />and identified the historic register properties for both the National Register and the Colorado <br />Inventory of Historic Sites. <br /> <br />Colorado Department of Highways: <br />desIgnation for the Piedra River <br />tranllportatlonsystelll. <br /> <br />Were <br />""'uld <br /> <br />concerned with the impact <br />have on the facilities of <br /> <br />that Wild and Scenic Riven <br />Colorado's southwestern <br /> <br />Office of the State Archaeologist: Made an evaluation of the archaeologic values and emphasized <br />that although kn~ existing sites are few in number the area may have great potential because <br />of its location near the Chi~ey Rock occupation, <br /> <br />Southwestern Dis[rict ~ater Commissioner For COlorado: Provided water rights and water user <br />data. <br /> <br />Countvand~ <br /> <br />Archuleta, Board of County Commissioners <br />Hinsdale.
