<br />, ',' <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />. . <br /> <br />, . <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />(3) Salinity: A salinity standard of 879 mg/l at Imperial <br /> <br />Dam was proposed by the seven Colorado River Basin states <br /> <br />and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency in 1976. <br /> <br />Establishment of this standard was p~rt of the basirnv.lde <br /> <br />salinity program in the Colorado River Basin which is being <br /> <br />~ <br />. <br /> <br />undertaken with the general objective of keeping salinity <br /> <br />in the Lower Basin at or below present levels while the <br /> <br />Basin States continue to develop their compact apportioned <br /> <br />waters. P.L. 93-320, the Colorado River Basin Salinity <br /> <br />Control Act, passed June 24, 1974, authorized construction <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />of four salinity control units and study of additional <br /> <br />units. Installation of all these units would reduce the <br /> <br />concentration at Imperial Dam by an estimate of 171 mg/l <br /> <br />by the year 2000. <br /> <br />f. Inducement for flood plain development: None <br /> <br />g., Existing and potential recreation uses: <br /> <br />(1) Type and magnitude: Two major recreation areas and <br /> <br />associated facilities including boat ramps and marinas, <br /> <br />camp and picnic grounds, trails and overlooks, and water <br /> <br />sanitary facilities would be constructed. A large minimum <br /> <br />pool of 25,000 acre-feet would be maintained in Ridgway <br /> <br />Reservoir. Project plans include improved flows and water <br /> <br />quality in the Uncompahgre River, public fishing easements <br /> <br />on 12 miles of river, acquisition of big game range, and <br /> <br />,provisions of deer-proof fencing along' U.
