I. Introduction

The Dallas Creek Project is located in the Uncompahgre Valley of

Western Colorado in portions of Montrose, Delta, and Ouray Counties. The

project was authorized fqr construction under the Colorado River Basin

Act (P.L. 90-537) of September 30, 1968, and as a participating project

under the Colorado River Storage Project Act of April 11, 1956 (P.L. 84-485).

Present costs of the'project are estimated at $54,400,000.

Storage in the only project feature, Ridgway Dam and Reservoir, would

increase usable water supplies by an average of 39,000 acre-feet annually

including 11,200 acre-feet for supplemental irrigation for 64,660 acres of

presently irrigated land, 22,600 acre-feet for municipal uses throughout

the Uncompahgre Valley, 5,500 for light industrial use, and 100 acre-feet

A draft environmental statement was .filed on March 8, 1976, and

the final statement on September 28, 1976. The definite plan report was

completed in ~ovember 1976.

The Tri-County Water Conservancy District, the local sponsor for the

project, signed a repayment contract with the United States on January 14,

1977.
