<br />APPENDIX "A-2" <br /> <br />OPERATIONS COMMITTEE REPORT <br /> <br />On November I, 1984 the Conservation Pool of the John Martin <br />Reservoir was empty. The reservoir contained 204,907 acre feet in the <br />various accounts. <br />On April t, 1985, John Martin Reservoir contained 115,763 acre reet of <br />water in the Conservation Pool, and water in the various accounts totaled <br />214,745 acre feet. The Permanent Recreation Pool contained 12,815 acre <br />feet of water. The reservoir, at that time, contained a total of 343,323 acre <br />feet of water. <br />On May 26, 1985 inflow to John Martin Reservoir was sufficient to <br />cause the Conservation Pool to become Cull and the incoming water to <br />begin to invade the Flood PooL At that time, in accordance with the <br />Operating Plan for John Martin Reservoir of 1980 and the December 1984 <br />agreement of the Arkansas River Compact Administration, the United <br />States Army Corps of Engineers assumed temporary control of the <br />resp.TvoiT, and proceeded to spill the various accounts in their proper <br />sequence. <br />The Golf Course, Amity Canal. Ft. Lyon Canal, and Las Animas Canal <br />accounts were spilled in their entirety before the reservoir was lowered to <br />the top of the Conservation Pool. In addition 2.432 acre feet of water was <br />also spilled from the Permanent Recreation Pool. 1,761 acre feet of water <br />was spilled from the Kansas accounts and 2,642.72 was from the Colorado <br />account. No water was released from the Transit Loss Account during the <br />forced release of the water from the reservoir. <br />During the irrigation season 51,530 acre feet of water was released <br />from John Martin Reservoir on demand of the Kansas Ditches, and <br />151,918 acre feet of water was released to the Colorado ditches by request. <br />The Frontier Ditch received 4,233 acre feet of water and 65,370 acre feet of <br />water arrived at the Coolidge gauge. Transit Loss Account releases were <br />1,673 acre feet. <br />On October 31, t985, John Martin Reservoir contents totaled 280,952 <br />acre feet of water of which 271,792 acre feet was Agreement Water. The <br />Permanent Pool contained 9,160 acre feet of water. <br />The foregoing information was obtained by the Operations Committee <br />from the records of Mr. Robert W. Jesse.
