Net Benefits <br />Do the benefits of the project outweigh potential negative impacts? <br />Special emphasis will be directed to the impact associated with <br />wildlife. <br /> <br />2. Water Duality <br />What are the effects of the project on water ~uality of the streams <br />in the area and especially on the current salinity problem in the <br />Dolores River. <br /> <br />II. STATE INTERESTS AFFECTED <br /> <br />I. Department of A~ric.u I ture <br />Project would develop "ater supplies for 35,360 acres of new land <br />and supplemental water for 26,300 acres. <br /> <br />2. Division of \,ildlife <br />About 13,000 acres of wildlife habitat would be lost. Although <br />15~ miles of poor stream habitat would be lost, project reservoir <br />would be managed for fisheries. <br /> <br />3. Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation <br />New recreational opportunities would be creatpd. River is ur-der <br />study for potential wild and scenic river designation. <br /> <br />4. State Archaeologist <br />460 known sites would be disturbed. <br /> <br />5. Department of Local Affairs <br />About 8,700 acre feet of municipal and industrial water supply would <br />be developed. <br /> <br />6. Department of Health <br />There is concern with the salinity problem in the Dolores River and <br />water quality of streams in the area. The sel>erage treatment plant <br />for Dolores would have to be rebuilt. <br /> <br />7. Department of Highways <br />State Highway No. 145 would have to be relocated. <br />
